Liverpool have opened contract talks with Philippe Coutinho. The attacking midfielder has attracted a lot of attention from various clubs including Barcelona.
The Brazilian midfielder has turned into one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League. He has a contract till 2020 and is on the verge of signing a new one. The attacker missed a lengthy period this season after picking up an ankle injury but recently returned to boost Liverpool’s top four hopes.
Coutinho has been a part of Klopp’s vibrant attacking three consisting of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. With Sadio Mane unavailable due to the AFCON, Coutinho has to take additional responsibility.
The 24-year-old currently earns around £75,000 and is set to get a huge hike which will make him one of the highest-paid players at Anfield. He has contributed 13 goals so far this season and hasn’t yet settled in after coming back from the injury.
The £8.5million arrival from Inter Milan has been linked with Barcelona but Liverpool would block any move for the player.
