Liverpool are in a three-horse race with Sevilla and AS Roma for Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel. The 25-year-old has netted ten goals this season for the Serie A club and doesn’t have a shortage of suitors.
The French striker is one of the primary targets for Jürgen Klopp. Scoring goals hasn’t been a problem for Liverpool this term as the Reds are currently the highest scoring team in the Premier League with 48 goals.
Klopp has been playing without a proper striker, however, as Roberto Firmino has been deployed in a false nine role. But the Brazilian’s form has fallen downwards in the last couple of matches.
Daniel Sturridge has returned from injury but has a knack of picking up injuries very often. Klopp would surely go for Defrel in January as he is very eager to add a backup option in his attacking section.
A fee in the region of £15m would be enough to tempt the Serie A club to sell their one of the prized assets.
