Jose Mourinho has claimed that Jürgen Klopp was furious because he thought that the Portuguese manager was trying to get Roberto Firmino booked.
The incident happened when Ander Herrera tried to stop a Liverpool counter-attack by grabbing Roberto Firmino’s shirt. The Brazilian responded by pushing Herrera and the Spaniard fell on the ground. Referee Michael Oliver decided to caution both the players.
Mourinho said, “He thought I was asking for his player to be sent off. I wasn’t. There was no problem at all. I think the game was correct. I think the players gave everything but in an emotional and professional way so the referee did very well in that part of the game – emotional and in control of good professionals.
“There was aggression but it was good so I think it was great publicity for the Premier League all around the world,” he added.
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool in the high-octane clash. James Milner converted from the spot for the visitors while Zlatan Ibrahimović equalised for the home side.
