Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has revealed his dream has at last come true as he played a full ninety minutes match for Liverpool. Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Plymouth.
Gomez had been sidelined after he sustained a knee ligament injury while playing for the England U-21 last season. He is the only player in the official first team squad who hasn’t featured under Jurgen Klopp in any match until the last match.
A very promising prospect Gomez couldn’t help his team to win the match but has expressed his happiness for completing a full match after more than a year.
“It meant a lot to me after being out for such a long time, it’s something I dreamt of.
“But the main thing was the result and we’ve got to try to get that in the [replay]. For me, it was nice to be back playing at Anfield.
“Coming back out to that crowd at Anfield was something in the back of my mind the whole time.
“It was a big moment for me to be back involved again but it’s about pushing forward and [to] keep learning.”
