Jose Mourinho has told the club authorities to prepare a new contract for Michael Carrick. Carrick was given a one year extension by Manchester United at the start of the new season but hasn’t been offered a new contract by the club.
The 35-year-old is having an amazing season. Since Mourinho started to deploy him in the midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera, United have started to pick their form.
Carrick has featured in 15 games this season and in those matches, United haven’t lost a single match, winning 13 and drawing two.
The Ex-Spurs midfielder arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006 and has racked up more than 400 appearances. He won a number of trophies including five Premier Leagues and one Champions League.
With a player of his calibre, it would be not very hard to find a suitor for him. Carrick currently earns £80,000 a week and set to be offered a one-year extension to fend off interests from other clubs.
