Antonio Conte is preparing a move for FC Koln’s Jonas Hector as he prepares to bolster his defensive options. Conte wants to replace Marcos Alonso with the Germany international.
Conte brought Alonso from Fiorentina in the summer and has been preferring the Spaniard as the left wingback since Conte started to play with 3-4-3.
Alonso had been doing pretty well as Chelsea hadn’t lost a single match until the last match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Spurs defeated the Blues 2-0 and Alonso looked very shoddy against them.
Hector caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant performance in the Euro. Conte reportedly enquired about the 26 player old before eventually landing Alonso.
Hector has 25 caps for Deutschland and would provide competition to Alonso if Chelsea does sign him.
Chelsea also called Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth who could provide cover at the left wingback position. Hector has been very reliable for Koln for the past few seasons who are placed seventh in the Bundesliga.
