Former Manchester City keeper Shay Given has advised Claudio Bravo to follow David de Gea if he wants to improve. Bravo arrived from Barcelona this summer.
Pep Guardiola sent Joe Hart on loan to Torino as he felt the keeper doesn’t suit to his style of play. Bravo has endured a tough start to his City career. He was far from convincing in the last match as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to snatch a point from the Citizens.
David De Gea had this similar kind of experience when he arrived from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard had been very shaky in his initial days but since then has gone on to establish himself as one of the best goal keepers in the world.
Given said, “He has to [improve] – and he has to do it pretty quickly, to be honest. They paid £17m for him and got rid of a great goalkeeper in Joe Hart, in my opinion.
“He’s been coming under pressure with balls into the box that he maybe didn’t have in Spain and he’s been asked a few questions he maybe hasn’t had the answers for.
“He has to adapt and David De Gea’s a great example. He came in and there were question marks over him.
“He has proven not just to people in this country but all around the world that he’s one of the best goalkeepers.”
