Antonio Conte has claimed that Nathan Ake has a part to play in Chelsea’s quest for the Premier League title this season. Ake was recalled from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The Dutch defender had been excellent for the Cherries this season. In his 12 appearances for the club, he has found the net three times including an injury time winner against Liverpool.
The 21-year-old can play in the central defence and can also be deployed on the left side of the defence. Marcos Alonso has been fantastic in this season for the Blues but Conte wants to provide some depth at that position. Ake could also be an alternate option in the three-man defence for Conte.
Conte said, “Nathan Ake came back with us because I evaluated his situation and our situation and he is a good reinforcement.
“Ake is a player who can play in different positions. I think he has improved a lot and now he is ready to play with Chelsea and help us.
“This is the second week he has been with us and he is starting to go into our idea of football. I’m pleased to have him.”
