Chelsea are reportedly interested in Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul. Conte wants him to replace Asmir Begovic.
Begovic has been linked with a move to Bournemouth. The Blues rejected a bid of £10m for the keeper. The Bosnian international is fed up after being the second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois and wants regular first team action.
Chelsea have shortlisted a number of keepers and Krul tops the list. The Dutch keeper is currently on loan at Ajax but hasn’t featured for the first team. He has been a regular with the second team.
The 28-year-old is having problems after injuring his ACL. Krul had been a first choice keeper for the Magpies but had missed had a year due to the injury. Since then his career has gone downwards.
Chelsea won’t release Begovic until they find a suitable replacement. Conte would love to recall Tim Krul to the Premier League who is the first and only goalkeeper to be subbed in for a penalty shootout in a World Cup match.
