Chelsea have recalled defender Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth. The 21-year-old has impressed at the Cherries this season and it hasn’t gone under the radar.
Eddie Howe’s side have been in a rich vein of form and Ake has been a key part of the run. He has racked up 10 appearances for them with eight coming as starts. The Dutch international was initially struggling to get into the starting lineup but Howe decided to include him in the starting lineup and since then the defender has produced a string of good performances with also netting three goals.
The left-footed defender could be an option for Antonio Conte in the left wing back position. Marcos Alonso has been outstanding in the new role since Conte has started to play with 3-4-3.
A Chelsea statement read, “ Nathan Ake has been recalled from his loan spell from Bournemouth.”
Conte had earlier hinted about a possibility that they might bring him back at the Stamford Bridge, “Ake is a really good player and now he’s started to play with Bournemouth and is playing every game.
“Honestly, I’m evaluating his situation, because Ake could be an interesting opportunity in this window for us.”
