Chelsea and Liverpool are poised in a very competitive and commanding position to clinch the Premier League silverware. Two tactical gurus in the shape of Antonio Conte and Jürgen Klopp have a daunting task ahead of them as the season approaches towards its decisive stage. They are looking for their transfer targets for adding freshness to their sides for the remaining 17 fixtures which shall determine who owns the bragging rights.
Apart from the league title, these two sides are in a battle to claim another prospective prized asset in the ongoing transfer window. Leon Bailey is reportedly on the radar of both the English heavyweights and we might have a tug-of-war among them as to who ropes him. But with how things have shaped up after the tantrums from Chelsea’s Diego Costa, isn’t Chelsea the side why really needs to acquire someone like Bailey by forking out the right price?
Bailey is one of the latest talents to have come up from the Belgian Pro League lately. The Genk winger has already accumulated a handful of admirers, including top quality sides in Europe. The attributes this highly talented young gun boasts include his raw blistering pace, confidence on the ball, ability to get into the right areas despite being so young and he has always been a threat to the opponents’ full-backs.
The 19-year old is very direct in his approach, is notably clever in the final third, he creates chances and never refrains from having a shy at the goal when the circumstances allow him to. Conventionally a left footer, he is predominantly stationed on the right flank but let’s not forget to mention that the Jamaican Under23 player is versatile enough to be employed as the lone striker up front. Arguably, he needs to brush up his finishing skills, but considering his age, it would not be unsafe to presume that he is likely to get better in due course of time.
Chelsea have relied heavily on Costa but apparently, he might be tempted to leave the Stamford Bridge either in the ongoing transfer window or in summer. Conte needs to find the right blend in the side to maintain their stronghold at the pinnacle of the league table and there are no two thoughts on the perception that they do need personnel in case Costa leaves in the near future.
In Bailey, the Blues will get someone with abundant qualities and can aid them attacking wise. He has cemented his place in Genk’s starting line-up and if Chelsea place a tempting bid for this upcoming star, they might lay their hands on someone they can rely on for years to come.
