David Luiz has said that there is no need to panic after the loss to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs defeated the Blues 2-0 to end their 13 match winning streak in the Premier League.
Since losing to Arsenal, Chelsea hadn’t lost a single match until Wednesday. Had they managed to beat Spurs, they could have equalled Arsenal’s record of winning 14 matches on the trot.
Dele Alli scored a brace as the North Londoners avenged the defeat in the reverse fixture which they lost 2-1. Spurs rose to the third spot and closed the gap on the top few slots.
Luiz said, “There is no reason to panic. It is only January. In the Premier League, the only important thing is to be top of the table in May. I never saw anyone win the title in February or March.
“The most important thing is to keep the same mentality, the same maturity. In the Premier League every game is different, every game is tough. It is never easy to win.
“We won 13 games consecutively but every single match during that run was difficult. We need to carry on. Tottenham played a great, great match, congratulations to them.”
