Celtic have dominated the Scottish Premiership after 20 league games. With nineteen wins and a draw, the Bhoys have delivered on all frontiers under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers and there appears to be no apparent reason why they cannot strive for a domestic treble. There is definitely something special in this Celtic side, something good enough to ink their name in the pages of history.
However, Celtic want to stay averse to complacencies. Despite having no dearth in their setup, they are looking for the options to bolster the quality and quantity of their strike force. Their formidable goal-getting trio in the shape of Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths have been in a scintillating form this term, but let’s not forget that they are all being sniffed by mega clubs across Europe. The bigger sharks will come scurrying in and Rodgers knows it better than many in the business as to how it feels to let his main men leave.
Amidst the reports that have surfaced, the one where Hoops have been believed to be in pursuit of recruiting Stoke City’s attacker, Bojan Krkic, catches the eye. Bojan has been a serial outcast at the bet365 Stadium, with himself being partly responsible for the downfall in his stature. The 26-year-old has shown moments of magic but then, his erratic displays have played a part in shadowing his tenure.
He hasn’t been handed many starts and is growing frustrated as he lies below Wilfried Bony and Peter Crouch, apart from the Potters’ latest sensational acquisition of remarkable striker in Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion.
Nonetheless, Bojan is still a spectacular player and has incredible talents running up and down his veins. It is perhaps the lack of deriving maximum utility from this front man by the manager that has dented his credentials. So far this campaign, the former Barcelona attacker has appeared on 9 occasions, scoring 3 goals and creating 4 chances. He also registered a healthy pass accuracy of 84%, which is quite good considering that he is an offensive player.
Frankly speaking, it seems that Rodgers is creating a special side which is aiming to look beyond domestic recognition. For that purpose, they need someone who possesses high pedigree of European football like Bojan and who has plenty of years still left in him to ply his trade for a top quality side. There is an existence of an awkward scenario between Mark Hughes and Bojan at Stoke City, the benefit of which must be taken by Celtic as they should leave no stone unturned in trying to rope in a high calibre player like Bojan to their ranks.
