Celtic are undoubtedly the best team on the Scottish soil at the moment by a distant margin and the way they have been running away with the Scottish Premiership title is a testamentary reminder of the same. They are 22 points ahead of their arch-rivals Rangers who are placed second in the league table which is absolutely remarkable, to say the least. So, maybe a domestic treble is on its way?
Regardless, Brendan Rodgers is aiming to create a sustainable team which can keep hitting the right chords and aim for a better stature in Europe as well. Although there are barely any loopholes in Celtic’s squad, the left-back slot is still an area which needs to be given a thorough look. Kieran Tierney is under constant speculation for a move to a mega club and their veteran defender in the shape of Emilio Izaguirre isn’t going to be there for long.
Apparently, the Bhoys have been linked with Fenerbahce left-back Hasan Ali Kaldirim for a move to strengthen their backline. The Turkish international is one of the finest talents to have blossomed from the Super Lig who came through the ranks of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The 27-year-old is a supremely versatile player who can ply his trade in a number of positions, including left-wing, left-back, central midfield and would come really handy for the Hoops.
Kaldirim has merely six months left on his contract and is quite reluctant to extend his stay at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium and that is why Rodgers has been put on alert. So far this campaign, the former Kayserispor man has mustered 14 appearances, during which he has created 11 chances, made 24 interceptions, 47 clearances and 2 blocks so far and has been one of their better defenders. He has already won the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup and not to mention the important role he played for Fenerbahce in the Europa League group stages.
Kaldirim could be snapped by Celtic very easily in the ongoing transfer window and speaking in an unabashed manner, it would not be unwise to underline that attracting him to the Celtic Park would be a smashing deal. He is versatile, experienced and quite superb for a modern day full-back and considering that the Glasgow-based club are striving for creating a core team, Kaldirim would be a shrewd deal to inject more resilience to their defence.
