Paris Saint-Germain’s congested pack was bound to affect the playing time of certain players and problems have already started popping up. Manager Unai Emery is yet to find a concrete first eleven with half the season gone and he is clearing his squad now in an attempt to reshuffle his pack.
And the first two players, who are going to have to move out, are winger Jese Rodriguez and midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. The boss, who has been specially brought into the club to achieve their European ambitions, will need a steady team to work out his tactics properly before they go into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
And as per reports, Arsene Wenger is eyeing the Spanish international. The left flank in Arsenal’s squad is quite volatile. Alex Iwobi was the first choice this season when Wenger had decided to go with Alexis Sanchez. Now, with Olivier Giroud gaining more prominence, Sanchez has been pushed to the left and the Chilean is clearly not happy with his position there.
The former Barcelona player has been terrific this season with 12 Premier League goals and 2 Champions League goals so far. And most of them have come from the centre role. With his contract issue getting too stretched, rumours are doing the rounds that Arsenal might not be able to hold on their star striker.
Although PSG are willing to let Jese leave on loan at the moment, Arsenal would surely want to include an option of a permanent deal in it. In his 9 appearances for PSG so far, Jese has completed 15 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 83%, of which 60% were forward passes.
It is his ability to pass impeccably and hold the ball up front that made him a popular choice at Santiago Bernabeu. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the French champions and joined for a fee reported to be around €25 million. But, with the likes of Angel di Maria, Lucas, Hervi Ongenda, Hatem Ben Arfa, Javier Pastore and now Julian Draxler, a first team role for Jese is next to nonexistent in the PSG squad.
Arsenal will have to face stiff competition for the winger. The Gunners have a real chance of getting their hands on the Premier League title this season but need good depth and players who can hit the ground running when signed. Jese could get better playing time at Arsenal and could make a real impact for the North London club.
