Bayer Leverkusen Hakan Calhanoglu has insisted that it would be very hard to turn down Manchester United. United were keen on bolstering their attack in the summer and did consider signing the Turk.
The Turkish international has been a target for Antonio Conte as well. Chelsea want to rope in the midfielder as a replacement of Oscar. Conte wants to utilise the majority of £52m that he received from Oscar’s sale to Shanghai SIPG.
Calhanoglu is a versatile player who can play in anywhere in the attacking third. He was a subject of an unsuccessful bid from former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal.
The 22-year is a dead ball specialist and has scored most direct free kick goals in Europe. Chelsea did bid for the midfielder but haven’t met Leverkusen’s demand.
He said, “Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be difficult to turn them down.
“But I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.”
Should United sign him he could be a huge boost for the Red Devils.
