Borussia Dortmund are barely a threat now to the likes of Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in the race to clinch the German Bundesliga title. Thomas Tuchel has failed, time and again this season, to make his side pull something special out of their hat and at the moment, even the Champions League spots appear to be in serious jeopardy.
Their prime striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is subject of immense speculation in the ongoing transfer window and it is very much likely that we would witness a mega club catching this big fish; the only question is whether in this transfer window or the next. Adrián Ramos, their second striker, has left the club a few days back with a move to the Far East. The Columbian star reached an agreement with Chinese Super League club, Chongqing Lifan via a loan move to Granada until the end of the season.
This has left Tuchel to look for an immediate replacement for Ramos and apparently, he is plotting an audacious move to acquire the services of Ajax youngster, Kasper Dolberg to restore the flamboyance of his forward line. The 19-year-old has been in superb run so far campaign in Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 8 goals (including a hat-trick against NEC Nijmegen), assisting a couple of times, creating 13 chances as well, including from 16 appearances which has seen the football fraternity to turn their eyes towards him.
Dolberg is one of the finest young talents the Dutch League boasts of having at the moment. Although he is conventionally a centre forward, he is versatile enough to operate on the flanks as well. There are many good traits in him, including his abilities to dribble the ball with a brisk pace past the defenders, gets himself in the right areas, always tries to keep doing something at the vicinity of the box, builds the game in the final third, good in the air, is very mobile and technically very sound which is why plying his trade for the Yellow Army should not be an issue for the starlet.
The move to the Westfalenstadion will enable him personally to take an upward stride in his career. More than anyone else, it is Die Borussen who need to pull this deal in their favour before the other sharks sniffing the youngster takes him away in the ongoing transfer window. Nothing is rushed in Dolberg’s game, he fits the bill for an excellent replacement for Ramos and Dortmund are to benefit massively if they can successfully lure him into their ranks.
