Chelsea continued their seemingly destined march towards the Premier League title as they picked up a routine 2-0 win against Hull City at home. It was a typical dogged Chelsea display but it was not all rosy for them. The scoreline might suggest a dominant Chelsea win but it was far from it as Hull City put up a surprising challenge to frustrate the Blues and they have to muster all their quality to get past the Tigers who were seemingly well drilled by Marco Silva. But they could not pull off a shock like Swansea and thus Chelsea picked up their 15th win in their last 16 Premier League games and went 8 points clear at the top.
The Best And The Worst Chelsea Players Rated From Their Win Vs Hull City
COURTOIS- 7/10
Calm and composed under pressure. Two fine saves to deny Maguire and Meyler were instrumental in getting the points.
AZPILICUETA- 7.5/10
Tidy and effective. His versatility is an asset. It was business as usual for the reliable Spaniard.
LUIZ- 7.5/10
Relatively quiet day in the office for the former PSG man. Wasn’t asked to do much. Dealt well with the long balls.
CAHILL- 8/10
Was immense the way he stayed on despite a clash of heads with Mason who had to go off to the hospital. Rock at the back and popped up with the header which eased the nerves.
MOSES- 7.5/10
Good performance down the right-hand side. Excellent delivery for Costa’s opener and worked tirelessly throughout.
MATIC- 7.5/10
Provided plenty of support for his team-mates both on and off the ball. Made up well for his off-colour partner.
KANTE- 6/10
Uncharacteristically off the pace today. Not the same tenacity and was rather wasteful in possession.
ALONSO- 7/10
Typically hard working display. Covered every blade of grass on the left-hand side but was a bit lucky not to concede a penalty.
PEDRO- 6/10
A Jesus Navas sort of display. Ran well and tried to link up but his crosses or final passes were way short of any quality.
COSTA- 7.5/10
Sort of redemption for him as he scored in his 100th Chelsea appearance after a tumultuous week. But it was not plain sailing and he had to be at his best to take the first real chance which came at him.
HAZARD- 5.5/10
Disappointing display by the Belgian. Withdrawn with 20 mins to go, probably a slight injury also played a part.
SUBSTITUTES
FABREGAS- 7/10
Showed his class with a classy assist.
WILLIAN- 7/10
Won the free kick after a mazy run. Good impact.
BATSHUAYI- NA/10
