Aston Villa haven’t done anything spectacular so far this season to boost their credentials of getting back to the Premier League. Despite having had so much of experience in the Premier League, they didn’t look like a side with notable calibre in the second division of English football. They are loitering in the lower half of league table and do have some bones to pick in the ongoing transfer window to steer their side back in the hunt for Premier League spots.
They haven’t found the back of the net very often this term and this has been a key issue for them. To worsen the scenario, their top scorer, Jonathan Kodjia, is away at Africa Cup of Nations to cater to his national side, Ivory Coast. The situation is unprecedented and manager Steve Bruce is desperately short of a front man with a decent calibre to tear defences up front.
However, reports have surfaced lately that Aston Villa are keeping a close eye on Burnley’s Ashley Burnes to bolster their attacking setup, considering the fact that the Villans are in a dire need of a striker. The 27-year-old is down in the pecking order of Sean Dyche who already has Andre Gray and Sam Vokes in his ranks.
Bruce has failed in his attempt to get Jordan Rhodes this transfer window and this has resulted in the need of getting someone like Burnes grow into a substantial one.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man is someone who is always unafraid of any scenario. He has excellent work ethics; his overall play up front is appealing, already has an impressive record in the Championship and has plied his trade in the Premier League as well. Barnes has accumulated 13 appearances in the top tier so far this season and found the back of the net for three times. Tenacious yet severely underrated, Aston Villa can strike gold if they can chalk out this transfer.
Aston Villa can offer the striker a healthy amount of game time under his belt should he make a move to the Villa Park. Considering his age and potential, he must be redefined in his career in a better manner.
Taking a downward step with a willingness to have considerable minutes alongside a good pay package which a financially strong club like Aston Villa can offer, he should realise that a call from Villa’s camp would indeed be a lucrative option for him.
