Arsene Wenger has hit out at Premier League fixtures following his side’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth. The Gunners fought back from three goals down to salvage a point.
Wenger pointed out to the fact they had a day lesser to rest than the Cherries. The Gunners played two matches in the time span of 48 hours which according to Wenger was the reason of their atrocious performance in the first hour.
Charlie Daniels netted the opener and Callum Wilson converted from the spot as the Cherries made it 2-0 within the first half an hour. Ryan Fraser piled further misery on Wenger’s side by adding a third.
Alexis Sanchez started the proceedings with a header while Lucas Perez scored his first goal of the Premier League to reduced the deficit. Olivier Giroud again came to the rescue for the Gunners as his header hijacked a sure shot three points from Eddie Howe’s side.
Wenger added, “We had three or four players we had to play tonight that we had to wait until the warm-up to see if they could play.
“Hector Bellerin had a knock so he was uncertain to play, and that’s the problem with only 48 hours (between games); you have to play some players again.
“Laurent Koscielny too, and we had Gabriel (Paulista) that we didn’t start in the end.
“And then I didn’t start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain because I didn’t take a gamble with him, because I didn’t know who we’d have to take off.
“This complicates the job a lot, but we have to shut up and cope with it.
“Look I’m ready to play tomorrow again as long as we play against an opponent who has played today as well. That is what I call fair.
“For the rest, we have to play when we are told to play. But we want to play against teams in the same time of rest and preparation as we have.”
