Arsene Wenger has taken a dig at Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean scored the winning goal from the spot against Burnley.
The game saw two penalties awarded in the stoppage time by the referee. Burnley’s Ashley Barnes was tripped by Francis Coquelin inside the box and referee Jon Moss immediately pointed to the spot. Andre Gray put the ball into the net to cancel Shkodran Mustafi’s first goal for the Gunners.
The referee had to intervene again when John Mee almost struck Laurent Koscielny with his studs. Alexis Sanchez moved ahead to take the penalty and chose to score with a ’Panenka’ rather than slamming the ball to either side.
Wenger got his marching orders after he complained about the referee’s decision. He was also seen shoving fourth official Anthony Taylor and might face an investigation for the matter. The French gaffer later expressed his displeasure with the Sanchez spot kick, “It was too cool.
“He has missed penalties for us, he was not the first penalty taker today. As long as you score you accept it and say well done.”
