Arsene Wenger has insisted that Mesut Ozil’s future is not depending on his future. Wenger’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of this season and the veteran manager hasn’t been offered a new contract yet.
Ozil has 18 months to run on his current contract and has been holding off a new contract.
His contract renewal has been the subject of controversies recently and the German playmaker has put one condition to sign the extension.
He asked the club to make sure the stay of Arsene Wenger and only then he would be able to sign on the dotted line.
Wenger, whose side is taking on Swansea thinks Ozil’s statement were misinterpreted, “I think [the interview] has been a bit misinterpreted.
“He would like to know what happens on the managerial front of course, but I don’t think that is the main part of his decision. It is part of it, but it’s not the only thing. There are many other ingredients in any negotiation and hopefully, we will find a conclusion very quickly with him.”
