Mesut Ozil has said that he is ready to commit his future at Arsenal but wants assurance over Arsene Wenger’s future. Wenger’s contract is scheduled to end at the end of this season.
Much has been talked about Mesut Ozil’s future. The German has only 18 months left on his current contract and hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet.
Arsenal have been negotiating a new deal with the German midfielder who has now put some clause before the club to sign an extension.
Rumours have been mongering that Arsenal are considering few names for the position of manager with the likes of Eddie Howe and Diego Simeone doing the rounds.
The one trophy that has been eluding the Gunners is UEFA Champions League. The North Londoners last appeared in the Champions League final in the 2005/06 season but lost to Barcelona.
Ozil said, “I am very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract.
“The fans want that I stay and now it is just down to the club.
“The club knows that I am here most of all because of Arsene Wenger. He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have. The club also knows that I want to be clear what the manager is going to [do in the future].”
