Arsenal suffered a major blow as midfielder Francis Coquelin is set to miss up to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the last match against Bournemouth. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replaced the French midfielder after just 28 minutes of play.
Coquelin underwent a scan and the scan reports revealed that the defensive midfielder will miss a lengthy period on the sidelines. Although Wenger has a number of midfielders at his disposal but Coquelin is the only defensive minded midfielder he had in his ranks.
Wenger also hinted that Danny Welbeck could expect a few minutes against Preston North End. Welbeck has started training recently after missing the entire first half of this season.
The French gaffer also revealed that Santi Cazorla who was missing since injuring his Achilles in October is not returning anytime soon. Cazorla had a surgery in December and Wenger said that the Spanish midfielder will have to train for at least six weeks before resuming football.
Lucas Perez, who was also injured, is doubtful against Preston on Saturday.
