West Ham United’s problems know no ends. After some of their summer transfers failed big time, the Hammers are on their way to replacing them and getting the right option in the mid-season could be a very difficult task.
One such failure has been Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli, who joined the Hammers from Valencia last summer. Quite similar to Juventus loanee Simone Zaza, Feghouli has managed to score only once in the 15 appearances and as per Leggo, AS Roma are chasing the flop attacking midfielder.
Although Hammers were more than sure that they would like to offload the forward this January, they are having second thoughts now as they have few options for backup. Even if the 27-year-old stays with the Hammers as of now, it would be difficult for him to perform knowing that his departure is imminent.
Hence, it will be wiser if Slaven Bilic tries to get a replacement lined up and look to offload him this month itself. Here are 3 alternatives Bilic could opt for to replace Feghouli-
Memphis Depay
One of the complete attackers in the Premier League, it is sad to see such a talented player wasted on the bench. Jose Mourinho has found an eleven who gel quite well and he is unlikely to experiment with it anymore unless needed. Depay’s days at United are coming to an end and he needs to find a destination where he would get the regular first team to get back his sharpness.
Whether its direct free-kicks, providing a defence-piercing pass or through balls, Depay can do it all. Even if Bilic manages to get him on loan, he would be a big influence for the Hammers in the second half of the season.
Manolo Gabbiadini
As far as the Italian forward’s attributes are concerned, he seems to be tailor-made for the Slaven Bilic style of football. The 25-year-old is superior to most West Ham United players both technically and tactically. Although a preferred number 9, his versatility and hard work helps him to play anywhere in the attacking third. Always looking to get into dangerous positions, he could strive with good link-up play with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Lanzini. He could be a wise buy and with the number of suitors flocking around him for signature, Bilic has to make a decision and fast.
Yacine Brahimi
A fellow compatriot of Feghouli, Brahmi has been impressing for Portuguese side FC Porto and rumours have it that many Premier League clubs are monitoring him. With sublime dribbling skills and the ability to single-handedly score goals, the Algerian international can play anywhere in the midfield. His skill will only be polished by playing alongside good players, which West Ham can offer.
