The speculation surrounding Alvaro Morata’s future at Real Madrid is taking a surprise turn. Although the forward has sent out a passionate tweet to the fans pledging his loyalty to the club, the club’s take on the player’s future seems completely opposite.
According to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who is allegedly angered by Morata’s attitude, told the striker: ‘If we get €60m (£51m) you can leave tomorrow,’
A move away from Santiago Bernabeu is not at all improbable. The player has seen very limited playing time under Zinedine Zidane. Since returning to Real Madrid in a £23m deal from Serie A side Juventus, he has seen himself go down the pecking order below Karim Benzema despite having some brilliant displays whenever given a chance.
It is just a matter of time before the Spaniard decides to leave and we have listed three Premier League destination where his service could be ideally needed.
Chelsea
Although Michy Batshuayi showed some flashes of brilliance in the Chelsea’s FA Cup 4th round win over Brentford, the Belgian has been quite average so far. And given that manager, Antonio Conte was willing to opt for the aged Fernande Llorente over the young and vibrant Belgian, speaks for itself.
While Chelsea have a world class striker in Diego Costa, the Blues don’t have a quality backup for the Spanish international. With players like Eden Hazard, Willian, Fabregas and Pedro available to assist, the Italian boss is looking for a perfect target man, who could collect the ball and finish it off clinically. And Alvaro Morata fits the bill more or less perfectly.
Tottenham Hotspur
In Mauricio Pochettino’s almost perfect squad, the only position that is dangerously thinning is their striker’s position. With Harry Kane as their first choice, Pochettino has no one to back him up in a time of crisis. The buy of Victor Janssen was a huge failure and although the manager has tried to cover that up by playing Son in the forward positions at times, it hasn’t worked that effectively.
Morata could be a really great option for the Lilywhites up front with his penchant for brilliant finishing both on the ground and in the air. And with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dembele and Dele Alli behind him, Morata could finally be the world-class forward that he aspires to be.
Manchester City
Sergio Aguero might be one of the best forwards in the world but he is way too injury prone to rely upon solely. Although Iheanacho has shown his abilities in bits and pieces this season so far, he is hardly the clinical striker a manager would want if he has the Premier League title in his sights.
Gabriel Jesus is a newbie, young and inexperienced, and doesn’t expect to be the club’s first choice anytime soon.
