After finally getting back into form since returning from an injury that had halted his first part of the season, Tottenham’s young sensation, Dele Alli, has now got into the groove scoring 6 goals in his last 6 matches for Spurs in all competitions.
However, his mesmerising form last season has caught numerous eyes and many top clubs across Europe are pursuing his signature now. Among them, he has had a big name suitor in Real Madrid and the Spanish giant will continue their chase, according to the Mirror.
Madrid are reportedly planning a swoop for the 20-year-old with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, also interested. Zidane will be expecting Alli to follow the footsteps of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. And although he has a long six-year contract with Spurs that he signed earlier this season, a move to Madrid is always too tempting for clubs to stop.
Alli is worth in the region of £50m according to boss Mauricio Pochettino and although Madrid won’t have the slightest of problems paying it, it is the transfer ban that could delay it.
T4O looks at 3 alternatives Pochettino could go for if he has to let his star midfielder go.
James Rodriguez
If Real want Alli that bad, then Pochettino should definitely make a move for James Rodriguez now. The Columbian has been linked with all possible big clubs of Europe, and Tottenham could use Alli as a leverage to land him at White Hart Lane.
With his first team chances drying up fast, a move out of Santiago Bernabeu is pretty much possible. There is no doubt in his creative prowess and his presence behind Kane will make Tottenham’s attack devastating. Probably, one of the best players to own the number 10 currently, Rodriguez is a level up from Alli. His deadly vision and impeccable longs shots make him a complete player behind the striker.
Marco Reus
Reus has been heavily linked with Spurs’ fierce rivals, Arsenal, for years now. But, a move to Emirates looks highly unlikely as Arsenal’s midfield core is way too rich to provide a regular first team place for the German. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder’s contract at Borussia Dortmund runs out in 2019.
There is absolutely no doubt in Reus’ abilities in the midfield. The attacking midfielder has an average passing accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 50%. Teamed up with the likes of Eriksen and Son, he could surely help Spurs win the title.
Dimitri Payet
It is pretty much clear that the prolific French playmaker is a step above West Ham United’s class and Tottenham could be a serious upgrade for him. Although West Ham won’t let him go for cheap to a domestic league rival, he is definitely worth the price, whatever it will be.
He has single-handedly pulled the West Ham team this season and has looked visually frustrated with the lack of display from his teammates. A dead ball specialist, Payet has tremendous ability and will better the current crop of attacking players in Tottenham. As he prefers to cut in from the left flank, he could gel in well with Eriksen.
