Spurs have managed to get their season back on track after a horrible slump in their form early this season. They are just one point behind Arsenal who are right now sixth on the table and will be looking to ensure their heads don’t drop now in order to push for a top-four challenge. Pochettino has seen his side get dumped out of the Champions League from the group stage as it became quite clear that they need some serious additions to the squad and that needs to be done as early as possible.
Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid playmaker Isco, who is considering his future in the Spanish capital, according to reports from The Mirror. Pochettino is a long-time admirer of the Spanish international and tried to lure him to White Hart Lane in the summer too as per the same report but Isco chose to stay put with the European champions and fight for his place.
The Mirror claims that Isco has stalled on a contract extension at Santiago Bernabeu as he is clearly not happy with the time he is having on the pitch. Well, who can blame him! He is a former European Golden Boy and was expected to reach the heights of his career by now. The 24-year-old has plenty of success to his name already but his personal growth has been limited since he signed for Real Madrid from Malaga at a very young age.
Isco has completed 90 minutes on the pitch just twice this season for the European champions. Zidane seems to regard him highly but his 4-3-3 system has hardly a room for a creative player like Isco unless the likes of Kroos, Modric or Kovacic are missing through injuries. Los Blancos’ all three first-choice midfielders have spent some time on the sidelines this season with injuries which is the reason Isco has got the playing time but things could have been much worse.
For the sake of his career, Isco needs to move out and Spurs could be his ideal destination. Spurs do have plenty of creativity on their books in the likes Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Son et al but there is certainly a special player missing from the mix. A player like Isco deserves to be the lynchpin of the side. He is nothing more than a squad player at Real Madrid but he could become the main man in Spurs’ midfield.
Isco is a flamboyant midfielder with exceptional dribbling skills. He is much different to Christian Eriksen in style. While the Dane looks to cut open opponent defence with his killer balls, Isco tends to make his way past defenders with his dribbling before playing the final ball.
Isco is capable of giving the Lilywhites a whole new dimension in attack and it is high time for Spurs to use the situation in their favour and lure the unhappy Spanish magician to White Hart Lane which can finally kickstart the Golden Era at the North London club.
