French Champions PSG are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur ace Dele Alli according to the British media. The 20-year old midfielder has been one of the best transfer stories for the London club in recent years having signed from MK Dons for a fee of £5m on the deadline day of 2015 winter transfer window.
Nobody could have ever expected the kind of impact the English midfielder made at the White Hart Lane as in his first season in the Premier League the 20-year old made 33 appearances, of which only 5 were as a substitute and scored 10 goals with an additional 9 assists to grab the accolade of PFA Young Player Of The Year with a place in the Premier League PFA Team Of The Year of last season.
Since his impact in the top flight, Alli has been called up to represent the England senior national team, after being included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the final UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Estonia and Lithuania.
With his performances, interest from abroad was inevitable and that was exactly the reason why Spurs first persuaded him to sign a five-year contract in January and again a new six-year one in September, doubling his wages to £55,000 per week.
PSG are prepared to offer the midfielder almost three times his current wage to lure him to France as the club, with its Qatari owners, have huge financial strength to do that comfortably. A player of his quality and attributes, Alli would be an excellent inclusion to any squad given the strong all round game he possesses.
It would be interesting to see where he plays if he moves to Paris. The French club believe that the 20-year old would be a perfect addition to the team having scouted him this season.
Alli would be a perfect replacement for the 34-year old Thiago Motta and would slot right into the midfield which also contains the likes of Marko Verratti and Blaise Matuidi. Needless to say, that would be a world class midfield with frighteningly well-rounded abilities. The presence of someone like Verratti would allow Alli to perform his attacking duties, the reason for his rise.
Unai Emery has got plans to mould the team into a particular shape which will allow them to be more competitive in Europe. Buying the Tottenham man would be an excellent move as he will be a good fit to the system in play at the Parc des Princes.
