Manchester United found a supporter in Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard. The veteran midfielder thinks that United are going to challenge the Premier League title next season.
Jose Mourinho had a not so good start to his United career as he was beaten heavily by his old employer Chelsea 4-0 and the team simply couldn’t convert draws into wins. But the Red Devils have slowly started to get back in the groove as they have won three on the trot on the league.
United are currently 13 points behind league leaders Chelsea and still have an outside chance of winning the league this season.
Gerrard, who retired from football in November, had left Liverpool to play in the Major League Soccer for LA Galaxy, said, “They are only a few more pieces away from the jigsaw that will make them compete again at the top.
“I think next year, Manchester United will compete for the title.
“I think this year they’ve maybe left themselves a little bit too much to do.
“But they’re moving forward and playing an awful lot better than they did in previous years. They’ve got a chance [of the top four this season].”
