Breel Embolo has claimed that he is happy after moving to Schalke despite interest from Manchester United. Jose Mourinho reportedly tried to sign the attacker last summer but the 19-year-old instead choose to join the German side from FC Basel. Embolo, who can also be deployed on the right wing, has scored two goals in seven appearances but has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a severe ankle injury.
Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel had earlier claimed that United did make an offer for the youngster. The Red Devils later went on to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan who proved to be a pretty good signing.
Embolo said, “I decided to join Schalke. That’s all that counts for me.
“I don’t talk about other clubs. I’m happy to be at Schalke.
“It was very important for me to take the right step. I gave thought to what suited me the best and the end result was that Schalke are the perfect club for me. The emotions, the battles.”
