Rangers will face a struggling Inverness Caledonian Thistle tomorrow in the Scottish Premiership looking to give the fans a perfect Christmas gift. Inverness are not even close to Rangers in terms of quality neither are they in form at the moment. They are placed 11th in the table and have not won any of their last six games. Against Richie Foran’s who are poor attacking wise and vulnerable defensively, we could expect a walk in the park for Rangers tomorrow.
In their last six games, Inverness have scored just four goals in total while conceding 13. Their figures are nowhere close to good enough to pose any kind of threat to Rangers who have won all their last three games. The momentum is clearly with Warburton’s boys. The Gers are slowly but surely holding their grip on the second spot and will be keen to keep it that way.
They are on the back of a 3-game winning streak which includes impressive victories over both Hearts and Aberdeen and the team will be bursting with confidence. The Gers have a 7-point cushion over both Aberdeen and Hearts to defend and will be keen to enjoy a goal fest against Inverness to boost their confidence.
Team news
Rangers
Warburton has been handed a double injury boost ahead of the Inverness game. Josh Windass will return to the Rangers squad after making his way back from a hamstring injury. Midfielder Matt Crooks has also shaken off a hamstring strain of his own but Jordan Rossiter (calf) and Niko Kranjcar (knee) remain on the sidelines.
Inverness
Goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams will again play through a back injury while second-choice Ryan Esson is just returning from injury and will not be match fit. Full-back Lewis Horner faces two months out with a knee injury after going off last week against Kilmarnock. Scott Boden and Alex Fisher are both fit, but David Raven (knee) and Kevin McNaughton (Achilles) remain out.
Predicted lineups
Rangers (4-3-3): Foderingham; Hodson, Kiernan, Wilson, Wallace; Tavernier, Halliday, Holt; McKay, Garner, Waghorn
Inverness (4-2-3-1): Fon Williams; McKay, Warren, Meekings, Tremarco; Draper, Tansey; Polworth, Cole, Vigurs; Dombouya
Key players
Rangers: Andy Halliday
Energetic midfielder Halliday has been instrumental for Rangers this season and will be keen to keep impressing at the base of midfield.
Inverness: Ross Draper
Draper is a crucial player for Richie Foran’s side with his overall midfield abilities. He is the second top-scorer of Inverness this season but his game is beyond scoring only. Rangers have to ensure that the 28-year-old does not enjoy too much possession.
