Newcastle United returned to the top of the Championship table with a convincing win against a struggling Wigan Athletic side in the midweek. The fierce battle for the top position in the table between Brighton and Newcastle United continues as the Magpies visit Burton Albion this weekend.
Burton are currently in the 21st position in the table and don’t look like a side that could stop Newcastle’s bulldozing run. Benitez’s men are once again on a winning streak after it was temporarily stopped by Nottingham Forrest and Blackburn Rovers on either side of the disappointing EFL Cup defeat at the hands of Hull City.
Newcastle looked unstoppable against a struggling Wigan Athletic side, who tried everything but failed to break the flair of the team.
Defence
Darlow starts under the bar. His ability to keep his head in the game especially when he has mostly nothing much to do is really crucial. He made some really great claims in the air and kept things secured at the back last game.
Vurnon Anita starts in the right back position. He has been brilliant this season and Championship looks like an easy challenge for him. The central duo will be Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark.
Lascelles has improved with every game and seems like the perfect leader at the back. And Clark has been the rock alongside the young captain, calm and composed. Paul Dummett starts on the left flank. His interceptions and clearances game in and game out proves how consistent of a player he is even though he isn’t the best going forward.
