Southampton suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Spurs on Wednesday night. They had an early lead given by Virgil van Dijk but Spurs fought back to win the game 4-1. The Saints will be keen to get back to winning ways when they host Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The two teams are placed very closely on the table. Southampton are eighth while the Baggies are just one place and one point behind the Saints.
West Brom have been excellent this season and they are playing, unlike a Tony Pulis’ team. However, the Baggies have lost both of their last two games which were against Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
Southampton, on the other hand, have done pretty decent under their new boss Claude Puel but there is still plenty to be desired. The Saints are lacking consistency big time and unless they find it really soon, it would be difficult for them to challenge for a European spot.
Predicted 4-3-3 Southampton Lineup Vs West Brom
Defence
Fraser Forster will certainly keep his place under the bar. The English keeper will be gutted to concede four against Spurs and will be looking to have a solid outing against West Brom.
Cedric Soares will keep his place a right-back ahead of Cuco Martina after finally able to bid a goodbye to his injury problems which has haunted him this season.
We expect van Dijk and Fonte to keep their respective place at the heart of the defence. Ryan Bertrand is the obvious choice at left-back.
