Rangers will face struggling Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership in a game that could to be a walk in the park for the Gers. Inverness are placed 11th in the table and have not won none of their last six games. They are poor attacking wise and defensively vulnerable.
In their last six games, Inverness have scored just four goals in total while conceding 13. So, on paper, the visitors are unlikely to pose much threat to Warburton’s boys who are in fine form of late.
Rangers will be keen to hold their grip onto the second place in the table. They have a 7-point cushion over both Aberdeen and Hearts to defend. Celtic, on the other hand, are 14 points ahead with a game in hand. It is highly unlikely that the Premiership race will become competitive again this season but Rangers have to keep the pressure on their rivals and hope that the Hoops somehow falter which again is unlikely.
Rangers are on the back of a 3-game winning streak which includes impressive victories over both Hearts and Aberdeen and the team will be bursting with confidence. Here is the predicted Rangers lineup against Hamilton Academical.
Defence
Wes Foderingham should keep his place under the bar ahead of veteran Matt Gilks. Lee Hodson has made the right-back position his own with his impressive displays of late and should retain his position. We expect Danny Wilson to start at the heart of the Rangers defence alongside Rob Kiernan.
Clint Hill did nothing wrong before he missed the Hearts game with suspension but since that game, Wilson has been a rock in the defence which means that Hill has to sit out of this one. Skipper Lee Wallace will keep his place at left-back.
Midfield
Andy Halliday should start at the base of Rangers midfield and will be looking to keep impressing. James Tavernier, a right-back by trade, played in central midfield in the last two games and did really well. He will keep his place in the middle of the park and so will Jason Holt. Rangers’ central trio are quite energetic and will look to dominate the midfield area against Hamilton.
Attack
Joe Garner has struggled for goals since his Rangers move but his overall game is quite impressive and will keep his place up front. We expect Martyn Waghorn to start on the left flank after his impressive two-goal show against Hamilton last week. Barrie McKay will keep his place on the right.
