You gotta feel bad for Hamilton Academical! In the midweek, they had to face Celtic, unarguably the best team in Scotland and lost only 1-0. It could have been worse but they showed excellent defensive resilience to keep Celtic away from having a rout. Just three days after that, they will be up against Rangers, who are finally showing a good run of form and have established a four-point gap between them and third-placed Aberdeen.
Rangers have been excellent in the last two games. They are on the back of a 2-0 win against Hearts after an impressive 2-1 win against Aberdeen. Even after the wins, they are miles behind Celtic in the title race but another win will help Rangers tighten their grip on the second place at least. Celtic look untouchable with the quality they have at their disposal and the form they are in and Rangers should not be too disappointed about that.
Rangers have a brilliant record against Hamilton, winning nine of their 10 Premiership games till date against them and Warburton will be looking to build on that. Here is the predicted Rangers lineup against Hamilton.
Defence
Wes Foderingham should keep his place under the bar with ahead of veteran Matt Gilks. Lee Hodson has made the right-back position of his with his impressive displays of late and should retain his position.
We expect Danny Wilson to start at the heart of the Rangers defence alongside Rob Kiernan. Clint Hill missed the Hearts game with a suspension and the duo of Kiernan and Wilson did an excellent job in his absence and it will be hard for him to make a comeback to the starting XI. Skipper Lee Wallace will keep his place at left-back.
Midfield
Andy Halliday should start at the base of Rangers midfield and will be looking to keep impressing. James Tavernier, a right-back by trade, played in central midfield in the last game and impressed.
The Englishman will keep his place in midfield and so will Jason Holt. Rangers’ central trio is quite energetic and will look to dominate the midfield area against Hamilton.
Attack
Joe Garner will keep his place up front. Kenny Miller will start on the right. Youngster Barrie McKay had an impressive outing against Hearts last time out and should keep his place on the left flank.
