Arsenal visits Everton in the midweek to extend their prolific December run. Given Everton’s current form, the Gunners definitely look favourites to topple them at their backyard. Arsenal’s away record has been brilliant this season collecting 17 points from 7 games, second best only to Manchester City.
Here is our predicted Arsenal lineup to face Everton in the midweek.
Defence
Shkodran Mustafi limping out early in the game against Stoke City on Saturday reminded fans of the crucial injuries in the Christmas period that has prevented the club from going all the way in the league for so long. However, the anxiety concerns were soon subdued by the introduction of Hector Bellerin.
The Spaniard never seemed to have lost touch of the game. It was his assist that brought the equaliser late in the first half.
While many remarked that he looked a tad bit rusty on Saturday, we are waiting with baited breath to see how he does when he is polished (insert favourite Usain Bolt joke here).
The Spanish speedster is expected to take his position on the right flank with Nacho Monreal on the left flank when they visit Goodison Park in the midweek. The fierce competition with Kieran Gibbs looks to bring out the best in the ageing Spaniard and he looks absolutely composed.
Gabriel Paulista will be taking the central position alongside Laurent Koscielny in the defence.
Gabriel has been quite adept in the art of defence, playing well anywhere across the backline.
