Hull City and Everton will lock horns with each other on Friday night in the Premier League in what will be both sides’ last game this calendar year. Hull got themselves back to the Premier League with an immediate promotion but it seems like they are unlikely to survive in the League this term. Mike Phelan certainly has a big task on his hands in order to avoid an immediate relegation.
The Tigers got their winless run in the Premier League extended to 7 games as they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City on the Boxing Day. They are still languishing at the bottom of the table with just 12 points from 18 games and it will be a hard ask for them to beat the mighty Toffees.
The Tigers have now failed to score in three consecutive matches and have conceded 10 goals in the last 4. It must be pointed out that they are a side struggling on all fronts at the moment.
Everton came back to winning ways on Boxing Day with a 2-0 win against champions Leicester City after their heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby. Hull City have to come back to their best in order to stand a chance against Everton. Here is the predicted Hull City lineup vs Everton.
Defence
David Marshall will keep his place under the bar. Hull City are likely to stick to a back three. Curtis Davies scored an own goal against Manchester City on the Boxing Day and will be keen to deliver a good performance this time out. He was Hull City’s stellar performer in early stages of this season and will be keen to get back to his best.
Skipper Michael Dawson will start on the left-hand side of the back three. Harry Maguire will keep his place at the right-hand side of the back three.
Midfield
Tom Huddlestone will start the base of the 5-man midfield. Jake Livermore and Samuel Clucas will start as the two box to box midfielders. If Hull City want to win this game they must ensure than the likes of Gueye and Barry do not control the game and therefore, Huddlestone, Livermore and Clucas have to be at their best. Ahmed Elmohamady and Andrew Robertson will start in the two wing-back positions.
Attack
Dieumerci Mbokani will keep his place up front and will play a target-man role. Robert Snodgrass will start alongside him as a secondary forward.
