Manchester United are reportedly targeting AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger. The German has already been linked with Chelsea as Antonio Conte is stepping up to bolster his defence in January and United will provide stern competition for the defender.
United are trying to secure a deal for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof as well. According to reports, Benfica president flew to Manchester to negotiate a £38m deal for the defender.
If United fail to land Lindelof, though, they could launch a bid for Rudiger. The German defender has been rock solid this season and Roma have conceded only 17 goals this season. The defender also impressed last season as he went on to appear 36 times in the Serie A.
Roma would prefer to cash in as they have been going through a financial crunch. They were slapped a £4.3m for violating FFP rules last year. Should United sign him, he will provide versatility to the side as he can also be deployed as a right back.
