Middlesbrough’s solid 1-0 win over Hull City last night brought an end to an enthralling weekend which saw Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the table and Liverpool roll back the years and suffer a collapse against a relatively smaller club.
Manchester City were probably the team that came off worse by the end of the week with Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho suspended for 4 and 3 matches respectively.
With Match Day 14 coming to an end, let us take a brief look at three 3 talking points-
IS MANCHESTER CITY’S TITLE BID ALREADY OVER?
When Pep joined City there are a fair amount of trepidation on how he would inculcate his new-age demanding philosophy into a team of players whose average age was one of the highest in the league.
But the start that the Sky Blues made under the Catalan defied all odds and they galloped to a 10-match winning streak and the League looked theirs. But the worrying signs started from the draw at Celtic followed by the 0-2 defeat against Spurs.
They were matched with a team who showed how t oppress but only did it better. And last weekend Chelsea showed them how to finish.
The warning signs are here and with Aguero and Fernandinho suspended for one of the most important periods of the season, it looks like City might be too off the pace to be able to recover in the latter half.
