John Stones has revealed that the main reason behind his move to Manchester City was to work with Pep Guardiola. Manchester City signed Stones from Everton this year for £47.5m.
The defender started his City career quite brilliantly as the Sky Blues went on to win their opening 10 matches but the 22-year-old failed to hold on to his form as the English side have managed only four wins in the last 15 matches and are winless in the last two games.
It was his back pass that led to Jamie Vardy’s hat-trick as Leicester pumped in four goals past Claudio Bravo. Guardiola has been recently criticised for his team’s defensive performance but the English defender has admitted that the Spaniard gaffer has been even better than he expected.
“There’s a lot of factors to think about when you’re moving clubs but in my eyes, he’s the best manager in the world to work with.
“To be given that opportunity to work with him, I couldn’t say no. And working with him has been even better than I expected.”
