Roberto Firmino has been charged for driving under the influence by the Merseyside police on Christmas Eve. He will have to appear before the Liverpool city Magistrates court on Jan 31, the day Liverpool are scheduled to play Chelsea.
Police have issued a statement: “Merseyside Police has charged a 25-year-old man with drink driving after his car was stopped in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Saturday, December 24 2016.
“Roberto Firmino, from Liverpool, will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on January 31.”
Firmino has emerged as a key figure in Liverpool’s brilliant season so far. The 25-year-old has netted five goals in the breakthrough season. He alongside Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho has helped the Reds to be the highest goal scoring team in the Premier League so far.
Firmino could miss the much-anticipated clash against Chelsea as he is expected to appear before the Magistrate regarding the incident.
