Liverpool squandered another lead as they limped to a 2-2 draw against strugglers West Ham United at Anfield. After a horrendous collapse last weekend at Dean Court, it was imperative that the Reds get back to winning ways. They started off in brilliant fashion scoring in the opening 5 minutes and controlling possession and the game. But the Gammers struck back twice before Origi rescued a point for the home side.
Let us take a look at how the Liverpool players performed on the day.
KARIUS- 4/10
Another poor outing for the German. Mignolet must be wondering why he is out of the team. Made a decent stop early on but culpable in some capacity for both the goals they conceded.
CLYNE- 5/10
An unusual off-day for the Englishman who worked hard down his side but could not make anything out of it throughout the 90 minutes. Lacked his attacking spark and failed to muster any good crosses.
LOVREN- 6/10
Solid first half and was strong in the air and on the ground. Went off injured at half-time but the partnership holds promise.
MATIP- 6/10
An epitome of being calm and composed. Does not wilt under pressure. Hit the post but was deceived by a deflection before the second goal. Less imposing 2nd half.
MILNER- 6/10
A typical hard-working performance full of commitment. Tried most things in his book but all did not end up having the desired end result. Contributed in defence and attack.
HENDERSON- 6/10
Tidy and uncomplicated display by the captain. Had one shot brilliantly pawed and was a decent performance overall.
WIJNALDUM- 7/10
Impressing in almost every appearance. Was strong defensively in the first half and snuffed out attacks with ease. Grew in stature as the game progressed and had a greater say on proceedings in the attacking third in the 2nd half. On a luckier day, would have got a goal.
LALLANA- 6/10
Understandably was lacking in match fitness. Took his goal well early on but was on the periphery and mostly anonymous thereafter. Conceded a cheap foul which led to Payet’s free-kick goal. But valuable minutes under his belt.
FIRMINO- 5.5/10
Not as effective on the wing and it showed again. His movement was clever early on but faded too soon.
ORIGI- 6/10
Got on the scoresheet again which is a great sign for Liverpool. His 4th in the last 4 games. Not the most fluent but is proving to be highly effective.
MANE- 7/10
Was marginally better than in recent weeks. Had a hand in both the goals but gives the impression of being inconsistent. Needless booking after getting involved with the Hammers.
SUBSTITUTES
KLAVAN- 6/10
Replaced the injured Lovren at half-time. Good performance.
