Liverpool target Gabriel Barbosa could leave Inter Milan in January. The player nicknamed Gabigol was signed from Santos in this summer but hasn’t been able to show his true colours thus far.
The 20-year old has been left out most of the times and has played only 16 minutes of Serie A football this season. The Nerazzurri are currently struggling in the Serie A and are ninth in the League.
His only appearance came against Bologna during Frank de Boer’s term. New manager Stefano Pioli hasn’t tested his potential so far. Liverpool have been without their main striker Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings has also been ruled out for the rest of the season. They only have Ben Woodburn as their sole attacker left in the squad.
Gabigol could be a replacement for Sturridge who has been linked with a number of clubs. The Inter striker has expressed his unhappiness over the lack of playing time and his agent said that he is reconsidering his future, “Everyone knows the salary which Gabriel receives at Inter isn’t sustainable for Santos, no club [in Brazil] can afford him.
“Why isn’t he playing? Not even Inter can answer that. When he came from Brazil they said he wasn’t ready physically, but now he’s in great shape.
“We’ll resolve this situation in January, he has a five-year contract but that doesn’t mean anything if he isn’t playing.
“He’s unhappy right now.”
