Liverpool should keep Daniel Sturridge instead of selling him, ex-Liverpool player Ian Rush thinks. Sturridge has been very ordinary this season as he is yet to open his account in the Premier League.
The England international is currently nursing a calf injury. The striker has been monitored by West Ham for some time and the Hammers could offer him a respite in January as they are planning to bid goodbye to Simone Zaza. However, Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that the club will block any move for the 27-year-old in January.
The Englishman has started only four games this season in the top flight but according to Ian Rush Liverpool would retain the player, “For me I think it would be wrong if Liverpool got rid of him because for me he’s a great finisher.
“Not just him but so is [Roberto] Firmino, [Philippe] Coutinho, Origi and [Sadio] Mane. They’re all needed – it’s not just the 11 on the pitch it’s the 19 to 21 players, throughout the season – when they get asked to do it and when they come in, they do the job.
“Daniel Sturridge is a team player. When you get there it’s about taking that chance and I’m sure his chance will come.”
