Liverpool are the latest team to join the race for Polish striker Lukasz Teodorczyk with the winter transfer market due to open in a few days. Spanish outlet Corriere Dello Sport has confirmed that West Brom who registered their interested much earlier is now joined by the Merseyside club in the race. The 25-year-old striker succeeded in being a consistent goalscorer with a very good strike rate right from the very beginning of his career.
Joining Anderlecht on loan increasingly looks like a turning point of his career with the form he has attained while at the club. Having struck 24 times in 50 games in the Ekstraklasa for Polish club Lech Poznan, the forward joined Dynamo Kyiv in 2014. Since joining Kyiv, Teodorczyk has scored 10 league goals in 24 games and in 2014/15, the striker made quite an impression with his 3 goals in the Europa League from 6 appearances.
The Polish striker has been absolutely sensational this season, setting alight the Jupiter League with 12 goals from 15 appearances. While it can be argued that the level of defending in the Belgian First Division is not exactly world class, Teodorczyk’s displays in the Europa League is the evidence of the ability of the striker has which has seen him score 5 times from 5 games in the competition.
Standing at 6ft 1 inch, the striker is a player who has excellent built bears a strange resemblance with his fellow countrymen Robert Lewandowski and Arkadiusz Milik.
The current Anderlecht striker is excellent in his finishing with powerful upper body strength to hold off challenges. Teodorczyk’s effectiveness is also heightened by his on the ball skills, with some nifty footwork in his locker to progress through challenges. The striker is one of the best options available at the moment in terms of cost effectiveness.
Teodorczyk’s contract with Dynamo Kiev expires in 2019 but Anderlecht reportedly have the option to make their loan move permanent for just €5 million (£4.2m). This season’s goalscoring form has allowed him to break his barren spell in front of the goal for his country when he scored the equaliser against Slovenia recently, his first international goal since March 2013.
With the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool, Benfica and Sevilla all in the mix to land the striker in the new year, Lukasz Teodorszyk is a player who is really hot both in front of the opposition’s goal as well as in the transfer market.
However, given that most of Liverpool’s problems seem to be at the back, maybe it is more pertinent for Klopp to fix the problems in defence? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
