Jürgen Klopp is happy to have Daniel Sturridge back in his squad. Sturridge missed the last five games with a calf injury but returned to play a key hand in the late win over Everton last night.
Divock Origi took Sturridge’s place and played remarkably well. Sturridge stepped up his recovery and returned in time for a match-winning cameo appearance against Everton.
With Sturridge’s injury Klopp, handed chances to Origi and the youngster grabbed the opportunities with both hands.
Despite his ability, Sturridge has been linked with a number of clubs this season after falling in the pecking order but Klopp ruled out a move. Arsenal reportedly approached the Reds for a loan move on the deadline day but the Merseyside club turned it down.
Klopp said, “It’s good to have Daniel Sturridge back and that’s why we took him on the bench. Maybe not for tonight but for the next few weeks.
“I’ve waited a long time to come to Goodison. I like ground-hopping. A chance to win new points. I went on the pitch earlier.
“It was a coincidence I watched [Rocky film] Creed in the build-up – Goodison Park played a role.”
