Liverpool have been boosted by the return of defender Joel Matip. The defender was absent in Liverpool’s shock 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth due to an ankle injury. Nathan Ake scored an injury-time winner to break Liverpool’s 15-match unbeaten run.
The Cameroonian defender has missed three matches after having signed from Schalke and in these three matches, the Reds have let in nine goals.
The 25-year old has been a mainstay in the Liverpool defence since his arrival. The defender has returned to training and also travelled with the team to Barcelona. He is expected to feature against West Ham United in the next match as the team will look to get back to winning ways.
Liverpool have been shaky in their last couple of matches. Klopp deployed Lucas and Dejan Lovren in the heart of the Reds defence against Bournemouth that conceded three late goals in the game. The loss could prove to be a costly one in Liverpool’s title challenge.
