Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident that Chelsea will emerge as the Champions at the end of this season. Mourinho was appointed as the Manchester United manager at the start of the season.
The former Chelsea manager had two stints with the West London club and had won three Premier League titles with them. He was sacked by the Blues in last December after a string of poor results. Chelsea eventually finished 10th last season.
Mourinho used to play with the same compact defensive style in his time at the Stamford Bridge which has been adapted by Antonio Conte this season. Conte is known for his defensive tactics and the results are evidently showing as Chelsea won their last three matches by a slender 1-0.
The 53-year-old Portuguese said that the Blues won’t lose many points this season due to their defensive play, “It’s very difficult, you have to be honest and say that. Not just the difference in points, but also the Chelsea philosophy of play.
“They score one goal and they win, they defend a lot, they defend well, they are winning and in the last 20 minutes they bring defenders in, they don’t care what people say, what people think, they just want to win
“And because of that, I don’t see them losing many points.”
Manchester United are in the sixth position with 30 points, 13 points adrift of league toppers Chelsea who are on an 11th match unbeaten streak.
Mourinho went on to add, “It is mathematically possible [for United to win the league], but it is very difficult to happen for us. The difference is considerable.”
