Jose Mourinho has defended Marcos Rojo following the player’s two-footed tackle on Wilfred Zaha. Referee cautioned the Argentine by showing him a yellow card but according to Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew that should have been a straight red.
This was Rojo’s second offence after he was booked barely ten days ago for a similar kind of tackle on Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye. Manchester United sealed the match with a late winner by Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Rojo was trying to clear a ball at the stroke of 38th minutes and landed straight on Zaha with his studs showing.
On being asked Mourinho refused to comment on the incident, “He’s a clean player, aggressive. His nature, Argentinian, is emotional but very clean, and he’s playing probably the best football of his career.
“I didn’t comment on David Luiz’s tackle on Marouane Fellaini, or Danny Rose’s tackle on Henrikh Mkhitaryan. So I’m not going to comment on this one.”
